Day of walk: Collar or Chest?

Writer: VividPetFoodVividPetFood

It is well known that we love to go out for a walk for many reasons, to meet new friends on all fours, to share time with our owners and to distract ourselves from spending a long time at home.

We love to explore and walk around and there, however it is important to walk with you so that you do not lose sight of us or run away. The most recurrent is that we go for a walk with a necklace and a leash, but how good is it to walk with a necklace? Have you tried to take us for a walk with bibs?

Let me explain why I recommend using a bib and not a collar!

Trachea : The trachea is the most sensitive parts of the neck. A collar, even though it is wide and soft, exerts a strong pressure on the trachea whether the strap is tight or pulling with it. Horner syndrome

Nerves : In the neck there are nerves that can be damaged by the collar pressure resulting in the so-called Horner syndrome with very obvious symptoms such as contraction of the pupil , detachment of the upper eyelid and even sinking of the eye by paralysis of the cervical sympathetic . In most cases it can be cured with medication but in some others there is no remedy. Dog Insecurity on walk

Misinformation : The neck is a very sensitive receptor of both positive and negative stimuli. The pulls on the collar can send the wrong message to your dog. As a consequence, many dogs react and show signs of insecurity. Aggression

Aggression : Dogs often communicate with each other during walks, even from a distance. If two dogs are seen in the distance, we can see signs of calm as turning the head or sniffing the ground showing peaceful intentions. If at the same time, by tension of the strap on the collar, the dog is forced to raise its head, it sends an offensive message to another dog that can provoke a fight. The solution to this without a doubt: A bib

The origin of the bib comes from the need for dogs to pull something or to crawl. The first use was for the Huskies to pull the sleds on the snow.

The bib allows the dog to use the weight of his body to perform the task in question. In the same way when walking, it is the weight of your body that allows you if for some reason you pull, there is no pressure in the neck that causes any of the problems mentioned above.

If your furry is tracking or sniffing, the chest allows you to bring the snout in contact with the ground, while with the collar, which is very important because your hairy will not stop so easy if sniffing is about.

A good chest should have a ribbon on the back and another on the chest, which connects the neck with the thorax. It has to be adjustable in several ways and it must have wide and padded ribbons.

If all this is combined with an appropriate strap , a lot of peace and patience while you allow your little hair to finish sniffing and recognizing its surroundings, the walks become a pleasure for dog and owner.
